Within in the next five years, Land Rover will get rid of its naming practice so that each model has just one name worldwide. That means no more of LR2 or LR4 names.

We’re not sure if Land Rover will carry on using the Freelander and Discovery names since the name badging hasn’t really caught on in the United States.

However, we do pat Land Rover on the back for sticking to real names rather than numerical badging. I just wish they started this new naming strategy at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show where they unveiled the Land Rover DC100.
