Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR

Most recently, Lexus made headlines in the automotive industry after the company’s LFA Nurburgring Package lapped the Nurburgring Nordschleife in 7:14.64. Well, the Dodge Viper is back and has apparently reclaimed its lap speed record for a production car at the Nurburgring… unofficially.

According to preliminary results from the Viper Club of America, the Dodge Viper ACR lapped the Nordschleife in just 7:12 seconds. That also tops the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1′s recent time of 7:19.63.

We expects something official from Dodge very soon.

Here’s how the Nurburgring track times rank right now.

Pagani Zonda R holds the track record at 6:47.

These are the records for street-legal vehicles. The Zonda R isn’t even race legal.

Wow, this is the worse blog of lap times at the ring I have ever seen, none of the times except for the Radicals and Gumperts are correct at the top of the list, the Radical and Gumpert cars are also extremely limited production cars that only a selected few can own (less than 20 Gumperts made?) should not be in this catagory anyways, no, the Viper did not run a 7:12 in stock off the showroom floor condition, never happened. LFA, nope, never ran it’s 7:14 in stock production condition. The Porsche GT2 times are also not verified by video, you’re hiding something when you don’t use video to prove the run like every record setter before them and Porsche is right down the road from the track, no video is unlike how the Germans roll but people are willing to take someones word for it? Why.

The only real showroom stock production car with ZERO modifications, able to be purchased by nearly all and with video verification is the 2012 ZR1 Corvette. Also, the Corvette was driven around the ring by one of it’s engineers, Jim Mero and not by a hired pro straight from Euro/Japanese race tracks. It shows how you don’t have to be a pro to go fast. Watch the ZR1 video, the car is rock solid, no hacking at the steering wheel at all to get around the Ring.

If the car does not have these 4 attributes below then they don’t have an official time for “Stock Production Cars” at the Nurburgring. Hey, we just want to be as demanding and particular as the German manufacturers are with their vehicles.

    Video Verification
    100% production car.
    Stock tires
    ZERO modifications
