Suzuki wants a divorce from Volkswagen, Chairman says V-Dub not acting like a grown-up

Following a statement from Volkswagen over the weekend that Suzuki violated its cooperation agreement with the German automaker by purchasing diesel engines from Fiat SpA, Suzuki’s Chairman Osamu Suzuki said he plans to end the turbulent two-year capital alliance with V-dub

Osamu said that the two companies should “say goodbye with a smile” instead of trading bitter accusations.

Osamu then went onto compare the partnership to a “ball and chain” and suggested the Germans weren’t acting like adults. He said that Volkswagen’s accusations that Suzuki was infringement of their contract was similar to a to a declaration of war.

He said it is impossible to grow a healthy relationship under such conditions.
