Lexus promises to take more design risks with future models

It’s time to celebrate – no more boring design for Lexus vehicles. Lexus has vowed to to take some design risks and the very first of those risks can be seen in the new 2013 Lexus GS 350. According to Tokuo Fukuichi, chief officer of Toyota design group, future models from Lexus will dramatize the bold and wide look seen on the grille of the new Lexus GS.

“In the next model we will emphasize this grille even more,” Fukuichi said in an interview Automotive News. “You would probably remember this grille if you saw it pass on the street.”

Known as the spindle grille, the Lexus is aiming at creating a more memorable design for Lexus. Of course, that will involve taking risks with designs that go beyond the mundane Lexus vehicles of the past.

“We shouldn’t always stay in the middle of the mainstream,” Fukuichi said. “When you launch the product, it ends up with no character.
