2011 Mercedes-Benz CL63 AMG

It’s no surprise that Mercedes-Benz has been slipping behind its closest competitors including BMW and Lexus. For the past 5 months, BMW has outsold both Mercedes-Benz and Lexus. The Daimler AG owned brand sales dropped 1.9 percent to 18,477 units in August 2011.

The company now plans to expand its lineup of passenger cars and SUVs in an effort to pass BMW and is counting a lot on the upcoming S-Class.

Sources say that Mercedes-Benz will add different variants of the new S-Class after it is redesigned and revamped in 2013. Mercedes is also considering a convertible version of the CL coupe.

Mercedes-Benz lost its luxury sales lead to BMW in 2005 and is now slipping behind Audi in 2011.

OMG! PLEASE MERCEDES! PLEASE! CL CONVERTIBLE!

A CL convertible would be nice. The E-Class convertible that’s currently out is pretty nice. Surprised to see Benz slipping behind Audi in terms of sales to be honest. How did that happen?
