Details on Mercedes-Benz SLA two-seater surface
Mercedes is launching a two-seater, soft-top convertible for 2013 that will be wearing the SLA badge, an anticipated competitor for the Audi TT Roadster.
The new SLA will be front wheel drive, a first for a Mercedes roadster, have a four-cylinder 1.6-liter turbocharged engine, and a dual-clutch seven-speed gearbox with a six-speed manual transmission. Turbo-diesel motors with a displacement of 1.8-liters is also a possibility, as it is still in consideration.
What is certain is that a cloth-top will be the only option for the convertible in order to keep weight and price tags lower.
As for the price tags, the SLA is expected to start at $65,000, keeping it in the price range of its competitors.
