2011 BMW X1 xDrive28i

BMW of USA has just announced that the X1 definitely won’t be coming to US shores before the X1’s mid-cycle refresh in 2013. BMW said that this is due to a weak dollar to euro exchange rate.

“It can be a positive to wait until the mid-cycle change and bring in a freshened vehicle,” said a BMW insider. “Global demand for the X1 is still extremely strong in markets where our volume potential is high for this type of vehicle. Here in the U.S., the X3 and likely will continue to be our volume (crossover).”

Despite the X1 not coming to US shores, the X1 will be sold in Canada as confirmed by BMW’s regional HQ there and would begin selling at the end of 2011.

So if you want an X1 early that bad, head on over to Canada! Though you will most likely have to spend more money to get it legalized here.

haha I know there’s a few people waiting on this–it must suck. Oh well this thing will probably cost what a wrangler or fj does and only be able to handle dirt roads at most like all BMW ‘SAVs’.

Hey guys, it’s already been on sale in Canada for almost 1 year already, almost bought one a few months back :) If you don’t believe me head out to bmw.ca and check out the dealer stock. Furthermore, MSRP is probably higher here than it would be in the US but you won’t pay anything to  ”americanize” it as our government has pegged it’s vehicle safety requirements to those of the US.
