BMW’s X1 postponed for the US until further notice

2011 BMW X1

Word straight from Munich is that BMW has postponed its planned X1 small-crossover indefinitely for the US market due to issues with exchange rates and successful sales in other markets.

The BMW X1 was originally planned for a fall of 2010 release, and was pushed back to the spring of 2011, but the X1 never made it then. In terms of what “indefinitely” means from BMW is actually in the unknown—in other words, it’s hard to tell when the X1 will make it to the US.

The expected ultimatum remains however, that the X1 will eventually come to the US and because the X1 is selling elsewhere already, it’s safe to assume that the X1 could hit our shores when BMW updates the X1 with a mid-cycle refresh.
