Chevrolet ponders Nissan Juke competitor, five seat crossover expected in 2013

Nissan Juke

A new rumor is bumping around the news desks regarding Chevrolet. Word has it that the Detroit maker is looking into producing a competitor to the awkward Nissan Juke.

As plans are marked out now, Chevrolet is already in the works with two crossovers that will be based off of GM’s global Gamma sub-compact platform. One is destined to be MPV-like offering seating for seven while the smaller one seats five. The larger seven seater is pinned on the planning board to be sold globally while the smaller one could only see the US market. However, word is that an insider mentioned that GM may be considering a third model, the potential Juke competitor.

However, it has not been confirmed nor approved and remains just an idea for now. Alternatively, the insider also said that Chevrolet could also be looking into a wagon variant for the next generation Cruze. However, the brand is very aware that the public’s reception of a traditional wagon may make it a tough sell.

The first crossover based on the Gamma platform is expected to launch sometime in 2013.
