ABT gets busy with the new Audi Q3

Audi’s new Q3 crossover gets a sporty upgrade courtesy of German tuner ABT Sportsline.

Perhaps the most outstanding visual feature is the custom front grille, which is simple but striking. The air inlets were expanded on the new front bumper, which accompanies the rocker panels, roof spoiler, and rear apron. Wheel options include 18- or 20- inch alloys.

ABT also provided power upgrades in multiple options, for both motor types. TDI motors start at 170hp for the 2.0, where the 177-hp version gets 195hp. TSI versions hit either 210-hp or 250-hp for the 211-hp 2.0 version.

Expect to see a lowered sports suspension when the ABT Q3 is released, as well.

Refresher: The 2012 Audi Q3 will go on sale in Germany later in the year with three different 4-cylinder engines, including one TDI diesel and two TFSI gasoline units. All three engines using direct-injection with turbocharging along with an energy recovery system and a start-stop system. Output for the engines range from 140-hp from the Q3 2.0 TDI to 211-hp for the top-of-the-line Q3 2.0 TFSI. While the diesel will come coupled with a front-wheel-drive system and a 6-speed manual, the two TFSI variants will get quattro all-wheel-drive and a 7-speed S tronic automatic transmission. No plans have been announced to bring the Audi Q3 to the United States.
