Report: Chrysler to get new compact sedan, next 200 to be Fiat-based
Chrysler’s and Fiat’s collaboration has been leading to a significant amount of changes. And guess what, here’s some more!
There have been bits of news floating around that say Lancia will be making a new comeback since Fiat owns the manufacturer. And because Chrysler is now a part of Fiat, some Chrysler models will be used to help create new Lancia models.
The two Chryslers chosen to help out Lancia will obviously continue to be sold as Chryslers in the US, the UK and Ireland where as the Chryslers rebadged as Lancias will be sold throughout continental Europe. So lets get cracking.
Chrysler said that they have a new compact sedan in the works. It will be based on Fiat’s CUSW platform, which also supports a new Dodge compact. The Chrysler compact sedan is expected to hit debut and hit showrooms by 2013 as a 2014 model.
The 200, which is basically an entirely reworked Sebring, will get the axe in 2013 to make way for a replacement. The 200 replacement will also be based on a Fiat sedan and will be the first car to get Chrysler’s new six-speed dual-clutch cog swapper.
