Mitsubishi adding $20,000 AWD Lancer, hopes to hit 100,000 sales goal
Mitsubishi has just announced some new plans for the future in order to keep up with the competition and reach a sales goal of about 100,000 units in US sales.
According to the Japanese make, Mitsubishi will add another all-wheel drive version of its Lancer sedan as part of their effort to reach the 100,000 sales goal. The Lancer SE will be the new model in the lineup to receive AWD and will be the least expensive AWD car in the lineup with a price sticker of about $20,000.
This will definitely aid in Mitsubishi’s sales as the only two Lancers available with all-wheel drive are the $27,000 Ralliart model and the $34,000 Evolution. The SE will also receive the base Lancer’s 2.0L naturally-aspirated fourbanger that’s good for 152hp and 130 lb-ft of torques.
“We are quickly recovering from the bottom years of 2009 and 2010,” Yokozawa said. “We want to be getting back as quickly as possible to 100,000 units in a few years.”
