Fiat’s new Dodge Caliber platform to spawn range of Chrysler Group vehicles

After bringing us a totally revamped and redesigned lineup for 2011, Chrysler Group LLC is now getting ready to reveal the second overhaul of its lineup in 2012. The new lineup will be kicked off by the first Chrysler Group-branded vehicle based on a Fiat platform and powered by a Fiat engine – the new compact 2013 Dodge Caliber.

The Dodge Caliber, which will be revealed in concept for at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show, will rival the likes of the Honda Civic, Ford Focus, Toyota Corolla and the Chevrolet Cruze.

The model is built on a new platform created by Fiat engineers by lengthening and widening Fiat’s high-volume compact architecture. The modified platform, known as the CUSW for Compact U.S. Wide, will spawn a range of compact and mid-sized vehicles for Chrysler Group Brands.
