Mercedes-Benz CEO: Many of our best new products are yet to come

Mercedes-Benz’s parent Daimler and their CEO Diester Zetsche has just announced that they will challenge their rivals BMW and Audi for the position of the world’s best-selling and most profitable luxury car manufacturer.

Despite Mercedes-Benz lagging in terms of sales behind BMW and Audi, Dr. Zetche said that “Our competitors’ success should provide us with additional motivation.”

Luxury car manufactuerers have been finding a lot of success with sales in emerging markets such as China and India. Additionally, a rebound in the US’s economy has contributed to a spike in sales for even the home turf.

“Some of our competitors are now growing faster and more profitably than we are,” said Zetsche. “Granted, those are just snapshots in time and should not be overestimated. After all, many of our best new products are yet to come.”

Mercedes-Benz has the ability to regain their position as being the world’s best-selling luxury carmaker like they used to be. But with criticism still surrounding their build quality and reliability, Mercedes-Benz certainly has a long road ahead of them.
