Report: Mercedes-Benz CLC will be a baby CLS with an AMG variant

Time for some speculation. Reports suggest that Mercedes-Benz will is planning a small sedan for late 2013 with Mercedes-Benz CLS inspired design. The car will be based on the upcoming front-wheel-drive B-Class, which will debut at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show in September.

Internally known as the Mercedes-Benz CLC or C117, the model will also be available in AMG trim. While standard versions of the model will ride on a front-wheel-drive platform, the AMG model will get an all-wheel-drive setup.

Power for the base models will come from a turbocharged 4-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines in Europe with output ranging from 108-hp to 207-hp.

The Mercedes-Benz CLC AMG will be powered by a twin-turbo 2.0 liter unit making 296-hp. It will be mated to a dual-clutch gearbox.
