In a new interesting video, BMW has announced that the new BMW ActiveE electric 1-Series Coupe has started rolling off the assembly line in Leipzig.

BMW will start leasing a total of 700 ActiveEs to the public in the metropolitan New York area and other select cities around the United States.

Pricing for the BMW ActiveE starts at $499 a month with a down payment of about $2,250. The leasing period lasts 24 months. BMW will start taking reservations later this year.

Refresher: The BMW ActiveE is powered by an electric synchronous motor that produces 168-hp and 184 lb-ft of torque. That pushes the BMW ActiveE from 0-60 mph in just 9 seconds with a limited (to preserve battery charge) top speed of 90 mph. On a full charge of its lithium-ion battery provided by SB LiMotive, the BMW ActiveE can travel a total of 150 miles before needing to be recharged.
