Ford recalls nearly 3,000 Ford Five Hundreds, Mercury Montego

2007 Ford Five Hundred

Here is some exciting (sarcasm intended) recall news for you this Monday morning. FoMoCo announced that it is recalling nearly 3,000 2007 Ford Five Hundred and Mercury Montego sedan to replace fuel the fuel tanks. Ford said the fuel tanks on 2,945 units may not have proper welds between the fuel tank and fuel filler neck, the NHTSA said.

As a result, some may not have enough strength to withstand a severe rear impact.

Ford said that while minor fuel leaks have been reported in a small number of warranty claims, no reports of crashes, injuries or fires have resulting.

Ford will start notifying owners on Aug. 15 and give them until Aug. 31 to file for reimbursement if they have previously replaced their fuel tank for the same issue.
