Chrysler recalling 242,780 Ram pickups due to steering problem
Chrysler Group LLC said today that it is recalling 242,780 units of the Dodge Ram pickups due to a potential steering problem that could cause the model’s steering linkage to break during low-speed maneuvers causing. The issue would cause a loss of steering control to the left front wheel.
Included in the recall are some 2008 Dodge Ram MegaCab 1500 4X4s and Ram 2500 and 3500 Heavy Duty pickups from the 2003 through 2011 model year.
“There were a few minor accidents and there was one minor injury” related to the problem, Chrysler spokesman Vince Muniga said.
To fix the issue, Chrysler will inspect the tie rod ends to see if they are oriented properly and will replace the left outer tie if needed. The Auburn Hills automaker will start notifying dealers, who will inspect and repair the issue at no charge.
