Report: Baby Porsche to carry ‘550’ badge, will hit markets in 2014
We’ve been hearing about a baby Porsche for quite some time now. It was recently reported that Audi, Porsche, and Volkswagen will share rear-wheel drive underpinnings, electrical structure, and a mid-engine platform for an upcoming entry-level roadster.
According to latest reports, Porsche is set to revive the ‘Porsche 550’ badge of the original 50s Spyder for its version of the roadster.
Power is expected to come from a 1.6 liter 4-cylinder turbo boxer engine that will produce around 200-hp. Power will be transferred to the rear-wheels through a manual gearbox. The Porsche 550 will go from 0- to 60 mph in 6 seconds with a top speed of 145 mph.
It will also feature a soft-top folding roof.
The Porsche 550 will hit the market around 2014.
