Lotus opens up new track at Hethel headquarters

2010 Lotus Exige Cup 260

Lotus opened its new test track this week with its team of drivers, Jean Alesi, and 1992 F1 world champion Nigel Mansell in Hethel.

The track is 2.2 miles long, and just shy of 40 feet wide, with 12 pit-lane garages that can hold 24 cars at once. It is also capable of holding GT racing and F1 testing.

With Snetterton near the new track, Lotus has yet to reach a decision on weather or not they will use it for hosting race meetings. What it will be used for is day-to-day development on the five new Lotus sports cars and its race cars like the GP2, GP3, and GT racers.
