The Targa roof was one of the most popular versions of the Porsche 911 until the change happened in 1996 when Porsche substituted it with the sliding glass roof on the 993. Porsche is now working on the next-generation 911 and it rumors suggest that the Targa option could come back.
AutoBild reports that it appears that the Targa roof could return on the next-generation 911.
The next-generation Porsche 911 is due in 2012 and so far reports suggest that the model won’t get hybrid technology and will sport a 7-speed manual transmission along with the company’s PDK transmission as an option.
