2011 Chevrolet Aveo RS Concept

At the 2010 Detroit Auto Show, General Motors unveiled the Chevrolet Aveo RS Concept as a hint to what the next-generation model would look like. Since then we’ve seen the Aveo turn into the Chevrolet Sonic.

Sources now suggest that the Chevrolet Aveo RS Concept gathered so much fanfare that GM is now planning to put the car into production as the Chevrolet Sonic RS.

The Chevrolet Sonic RS is expected to be powered by a 1.4 liter 4-cylinder turbo unit making 138 horsepower with a peak torque of 148 lb-ft. The production model will carry over the aggressive look from the Chevrolet Aveo RS Concept as well.

Sources say that the Chevrolet Sonic RS will go into production in Oct. 2012 as a 2013 model year.
