Usually, when you hear about Nurburgring records it’s all focused around supercars. Well, Renault Sport set its first lap record for a front-wheel drive production car at the Nordschleife on June 23, 2008, with a time of 8:17 posted by a Megane R26.R.
Renault is now back with the Megane RS Trophy, which set a new lap record at the Nurburgring-Nordschleife for a production-spec front-wheel drive car. The Renault Megane RS Trophy lapped the Nordschleife in an outstanding time of 8 minutes and 7.97 seconds on the course.
“Today’s lap time is the fruit of an increase in power output to 265-hp, along with careful set-up work and a tyre choice optimised by Renault Sport engineers,” Renault said in a statement. “This limited edition version reveals the exceptional performance potential of Megane R.S.”
