GM plug-in hybrid crossover to debut at 2012 Detroit Auto Show

Cadillac SRX

Last month, General Motors confirmed that it has dropped plans to produce a plug-in hybrid version of the Cadillac SRX crossovers. The reason? Apparently, it was not financially viable. Shortly after that, GM CEO Dan Akerson said that he was “actually in favor of it” and that the model “will be back, but it won’t be on the SRX.”

So what will it be back as? We have no clue as of right now but Dave Barthmuss, G.M.’s western region group manager for environment and energy communications says that we should turn our attention to the 2012 Detroit Auto Show.

In an interview with PluginCars.com, when asked about the GM plug-in hybrid SUV, Barthmuss said: …”it’s always great to spend January in Detroit.” He then added, “Stay tuned.”

Well Barthmuss, you have our attention and we’re eagerly waiting to see what GM has in store.
