2011 Detroit Auto Show

The 2012 Detroit Auto Show won’t be here until Jan. 2012 but we’re already hearing about what we can expect for the big show. For the 2012 Detroit Auto Show, show organizers will add more exhibit space and automakers will hold more vehicle introductions than the 2011 show. The 2011 Detroit Auto Show brought in 735,370 people to Cobo Center in Detroit.

Show organizers said that they will also add a second full day of press conferences and vehicle unveilings. The 2011 Detroit Auto Show only had one day of press conferences, which limited the amount of media coverage for automakers. A second full day of press conferences should also keep a few thousand media travelers at local hotels and restaurants a little longer.

Cobo’s exhibit space is expected to grow from 25,000 square feet to 725,000 square feet for the 2012 show, said Cobo Center general manager Thom Connors.

“The automakers have a lot to talk about this year,” Perkins said. “We’ll have more vehicle introductions.”
