At the 2011 Shanghai Motor Show earlier this year, Audi unveiled the Q3 compact crossover. The brand now has plans to add to more models to its ‘Q’ lineup with the Audi Q1 and the Audi Q4.
The Audi Q4 will be an elegant two-door crossover that will compete with the likes of the Land Rover Evoque two-door. Not many details are available on the Audi Q4, but reports state that the model will use the engine lineup from the Audi Q7 and should arrive on the market around 2017.
More details are available on the Audi Q1. A quick way to get the model on the market is to put a taller crossover body on the Audi A1 compact hatchback. This could bring the model to the market by 2013. On the other hand, Audi will could wait to use the advanced MQB architecture that will be used by the next A3. That would push the Audi Q1’s market launch date to around 2016. A third option is to use the upcoming Audi A2 as the basis for the model. The Audi A2 will debut sometime in 2016.
