Nissan Altima Hybrid

Nissan North America has dropped the Nissan Altima Hybrid for the 2012 model year, and has no plans on bringing it back. The Japanese automaker quietly dropped the Altima hybrid from its 2012 catalog after five years in the lineup.

Nissan spokesman John Schilling said that while the Infiniti M35 Hybrid will remain, there will be no other hybrid model at all from Nissan… well at least for 2012.

Why? Apparently, Nissan is concentrating its alternative vehicle marketing strategy and funding on the nationwide rollout of the Nissan LEAF.

I do know that retailers weren’t hot on selling the hybrids.  It was like pulling teeth at some dealers to get them to let you to admit they had one on their lot.

I guess they don’t like selling them?

How are we to know what doesn’t sell when retailers balk at even mentioning these cars?  Walked in with my mom today asked for ‘best gas mileage’ and they didn’t mention the four hybrids or even the leaf sitting right in front.  (Not that my mom wanted the electric, which is silly, but…)
