2011 Porsche Panamera Turbo S

Will their every be a Porsche Panamera Convertible? Maybe – but most likely not. So what does Porsche have planned for its only four-door sedan model? Not much really.

Besides handing over the platform to its future family members Audi (for the A9) and Lamborghini (for the Estoque sedan), Porsche is likely to drop the manual transmission that is currently offered on the naturally aspirated, rear-wheel-drive V6 and V8 miles.

Even though the U.S. is a ‘classic manual-gearbox market’ for Porsche, the take rate for the manual Panamera has been pretty low to justify a successor. Sources say that the next Porsche Panamera will also receive electric power steering—for efficiency reasons.
