2011 Chevrolet Camaro SS vs. 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS396

Just how well do the new muscle cars of 2011 compare to their predecessors? It’s a question/debate that is continuously brought up at drag strips and auto shows.

The guys at Motor Trend decided to find out for once and for all. The team gathered three modern high-spec muscle cars and put them against their glory days ancestors.

The lineup consist of the 2011 Chevrolet Camaro SS against the 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS396; a 2011 Dodge Challenger SRT8 meets the 1970 Challenger; and the 2011 Ford Shelby Mustang GT500 Convertible meets its 1969 forebear.

    The newer versions of these muscle cars are indeed better than their vintage ones. That said their is no replacement for the good vibes one gets from seeing these classics in all their glory. After all they were the trail blazers of what we have today.

    the lesson here, i think, is respect your elders. the new versions are better performers… built with much better technology, and a template to follow. both are great in their own respects, but i dont care what the narrator says, nothing is like that growl from one of the classics.

    Regardless of anything…nothing beats a classic I drive a 78 Camaro, and I wouldnt trade it for anything in the world.  New or old though, all these cars are great.
