2011 Porsche Cayenne Turbo

The upcoming Porsche Cajun will borrow the platform from the Audi Q5; however, that’s not the only thing Porsche will be borrowing. Insiders suggest the Audi will also provide Porsche with a new V6 twin-turbo diesel unit as part of deepening ties between the two VW Group brands.

Sources say that the tie-up is designed to align the two brands closely, saving research, development and component costs.

The 309-hp 3.0L V6 twin-turbo diesel will be the new range-topping engine on the facelifted Audi Q5 due next year.

According to Axel Eisner, Audi’s head of engine development, the new diesel engine will also be available in the A3, A4, A5, A6, A7, A8 and Q7, according to Axel Eisner, Audi’s head of engine development. He denied any rumors of diesel-powered S models.

What I want to know is this, is the twin turbo diesel going to be made available to the Porsche Cayenne? Surely as a performance brand, the Cayenne must get this engine. Can anyone out there answer that question?
