BMW working on hardcore M3 sedan, may get CSL or GTS badge

BMW has been flooding everyone’s news feeds with either announcements, rumors or plans. And guess what, here’s another!

The Munich brand just announced that it will be introducing a hardcore special edition of the current E90 M3 Sedan. Think E90 M3 CSL Sedan. This is to mark the end of the E90/E92 production run so that the F30 3er could take its place.

Word is that the special M3 sedan will feature the same 4.4L S65 V8 but will produce a power figure somewhere inbetween the standard M3’s 414-hp and the M3 GTS’s 444-hp. Torque will most likely be pegged at 325 lb-ft with a combined result of a 0-60 time of 4.5 seconds with a top speed of 190mph without a limiter.

The new special M3 Sedan will also be lighter, faster, and more track-oriented. Other upgrades include brakes and suspension. When first previewed at the debut of the new M5 Concept in April, BMW M Chief said the new M3 sedan will also have “several other suprises.”

Ideally, the new sedan will find its placement inbetween the regular M3 and the top of the line GTS Coupe. The Munich make is unsure as to whether use the CSL name or the GTS but will most likely rule them out as they are reserved for the coupes.
