The Toyota FT-86 is scheduled to debut at the Tokyo motor show come the end of this year. Yet even with sales expected to start early 2012 in the UK, the Toyota and Subaru collaboration is set for a name change.

In the U.S. it will be branded as a Scion, but is expected to keeps the FT-86 badge for some markets. Europe and Japan may see the revival of the Celica.

With difficulties passing pedestrian impact regulations, Toyota design teams are still making adjustments to the vehicle. The current model is a rear-drive coupe powered by a Subaru flat-four ‘boxer’ engine. It is crafted with keeping both weight and noise low.
