NHTSA looking into 440,000 Nissan Altimas over braking issues
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has opened a preliminary investigation into 440,000 Nissan Altima units over braking issues, the agency said on its website. NHTSA said that the investigation covers Nissan Altimas from the 2007-2008 model year.
The agency said it received 20 complaints complaining about brake master cylinder leakage. 16 of those complaints have come in since October. Two of the complaints allege a reduction in brake effectiveness.
Nissan has also provided reports of master cylinder leakage in Early Warning Reporting system submissions.
