Honda CR-Z Mugen

Honda and MUGEN Euro have released the first official photographs of the new Honda CR-Z MUGEN – the higher-performance hybrid hatchback that the CR-Z should have been from the start.

“Development of the supercharged Honda CR-Z is on track, with performance figures already looking promising,” Honda said. “Early tests with a prototype car based on a standard CR-Z and a mid-tune engine have given 0-60mph times around that of the Civic Type R.”

Power for the Honda CR-Z Mugen will come from a 1.5L i-VTEC gasoline engine that will get a supercharger, boosting output to 200-ps (197-hp) with a maximum torque of 181 lb-ft.

“Early fuel consumption tests have also been encouraging,” says Colin Whittamore from MUGEN Euro. “We’ve retained the three driving modes from the standard car and economy ranges from 50+mpg in ‘eco’ mode to mid-30 mpg when tapping into the supercharged power in a special ‘MUGEN’ mode.”

In my opinion the 3 circular guage bar are out of place on the dashboard and is almost as bad as the one Porsche put on the middle of the 911′s dash.
I just wonder why hasn’t anyone put a motor from an EP3 or FN2 Type R Civic (European models these) in there (or an engine from the Si or maybe the S2000 from the States)?  They could then re-use the donor engine to power a small lawn-mower.
