Chevrolet Impala

We learned not to long ago that the old new Chevrolet Impala, the one that’s based on a decade old platform flipped upside down, will be around with us for a couple more years. But we also learned that they’re going to get some new engine and transmission options as well.

For 2012, the Impala will be receiving GM’s new revised 3.6L V6 good for 302-hp and 252 lb-ft of torque, mated to a six-speed auto cogswapper.

That makes is nearly just as powerful as the discontinued Impala SS with the longitudinally-mounted 5.3L small-block V8.

The 3.6L V6 and the six-speed will be both standard for the Impala and it’s expected that this powertrain could find itself in the 2012 Buick LaCrosse. Actual performance figures for the LaCrosse will be released later on.

WOW i hope this vehicle is only being produced for fleet sales, because otherwise it should be dead! Former mourning panther owners should rejoice that they have a new aged fruit that is ready for consumption. I know FWD vs RWD but it has a similar crappy interior, stale styling and floaty ride. AARP members rejoice!
