Ever since the height in awareness of Mercedes-Benz’s and Volkswagen’s combined efforts to create clean diesel technology, VAG has been proud to say that 20-25% of their vehicles sold in the US are diesels and have no intention to stop.

Word is that VAG is putting significant effort into expanding their diesel options for the American market. The Passat, Jetta, the new Beetle, Touareg and the Golf are all available with a TDI option. So that leaves the Tiguan and Eos diesel-less. But don’t worry, VAG said that they’re planning on introducing the TDI version of the Tiguan in the states.

There’s no exact date as to when the Tiguan TDI will hit our shores, nor has it been officially confirmed but there’s speculation that it could be within the next year along with the planned mid-cycle facelift for the current Tiguan.
