  • Key Competitors: BMW 1-Series, Audi A3.
  • Power: 2.0L 4-cylinder turbocharged, direct-injected engine – 210-hp / 229 lb-ft.
  • Transmission: dual-clutch transmission (gears not specified).
  • Will it be built: Yes.

The new Mercedes-Benz Concept A, in our opinion, is the most attractive concept to debut at the 2011 New York Auto Show. The production model will arrive sometime next year and will compete with the likes of the BMW 1-Series and the Audi A3.

The next-generation A-Class platform will underpin a number of variants including a hatch (like this), a sedan, a baby crossover as well as a high-performance AMG model that should push more than 300-hp. Of course, we’re looking forward to the AMG version since small cars with a lot of horsepower are usually never disappointing. Just imagine this going head-to-head with the BMW 1-Series M Coupe.

I like this a much more than the A4, C30, Golf, and especially the CT.

Absolute stunner!!! The design of the production model should be (if it has to be?) changed only on the minimal level! They should really go with the front grill design and especially the headlights, which should remain a unibody style unlike a split diamond style like on the new E-class for instance. MB guys, go bold with this one, don’t change it later on & you won’t be sorry…
