Ford expands F-150 recall to 1.2 million units
FoMoCo is expanding the recall for the best-selling vehicle in North America, the Ford F-150 pickup. The expansion is of a smaller recall in Feb. of 150,000 units and is being expanded to nearly 1.2 million F-150 pickups and a few Lincoln Mark LT models, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said.
The recall involves an issue of a possible short circuit that could cause airbags to deploy unexpectedly.
The recall affects trucks from the model years 2004 to 2006 (Lincoln Mark LT model year 2006).
The expansion comes after many talks between the Ford and the safety regulators in Washington. Ford had originally resisted expanding the recall.
