2011 Chevrolet Silverado HD - HD to HD Testing

2011 Chevrolet Silverado HD - HD to HD Testing

Top promote its Chevrolet Silverado HD, General Motors has launched a new video series called ‘HD to HD,’ which pits the 2011 Chevrolet Silverado HD against competitors in real-world tests that show capabilities that matter to real-world truck buyers.

“We wanted to get away from spec-sheet comparisons and show how these trucks perform in the real world,” said Rick Spina, global vehicle line executive for full size trucks. “To do so, we engaged an independent company to test the Silverado HD with the Duramax diesel and Allison transmission head-to-head with the competition, and record those tests for everyone to see.”

In a series of tests that include acceleration, passing, and braking tests, all conducted with a loaded bed, or in some cases, a loaded trailer, the Silverado HD goes against its two main competitors – the diesel-powered 2011 Ford Super Duties and the 2011 Dodge Ram HDs.

I just wish we could have seen how bad the Dodge was in the twist ditch, and braking. I new the chev was good, but I didn’t realize the difference was that big. NICE!!

  • trucks

So the Dodge obviously won half of the tests. If you won them outright you would have shown all 3 trucks not just 2 of three. The Dodge was present you could see it in the background. Good test and show but they are not representing the data the way it happened.

I think the Dodge was not in most of the test becuse the max pay load is less then Chey and Ford.

It’s a marketing campaign for Chevy Trucks. I agree they should have shown the Dodge results. But, the whole point is to convince you to buy a Chevy.

I love Chevy trucks but, if they went out of business tomorrow. Dodge is next, never a Ford.

Notice the dodge wasnt in any of the brake, and frame tests? What engine did they have in the dodge? Im sure the smallest they offer

  • Eeore2010

I agree, they left the dodge out on the majoity of the test, and im sure they didnt run the 2500 power wagon. I would have also liked to have seen the Toyota Tundra included in these test. This is what happens when you get one company thats partial doing the test.

The Dodge was so far behind Ford and chevy in all tests they didnt want to waste our time for all the tests . Ive had my share of Ford trucks and my next one will be a Chevy HD .

we have dodge duallies around here that pull over 25,000 lbs with the big cummins diesel, and alot of the testing with the ford had to be rigged i seen fords around here do the job..
p.s,every ford and dodge i ever owned outlasted the chevy’s i owned,i have a 88 dynasty with piston slap and it has over 400,000 miles on it and its still going and outlasted 2 chevys.

wished they had dont a test on sound and ride really feel Chevy would have won that to.Fords rides like aToyota rough and kills your back if going long miles.

They didn’t include Dodge in all the test for the simple reason it is superior and Dodge has the highest tow 22,700 and you are right they didn’t use Dodges biggest engine and we all know why!

Deal with reality! they were not honest about their test since they did not use the Dodge in all the test and the reason for that is, is because Dodge is superior think about it? and they did not use Dodges biggest engine so don’t watch these BS untrue test and check out the actual facts before you are very disappointed in the money you just wasted

Correct me if I’m wrong of course- far be from me to spread mis-information, but I think they were testing the early 2011, S.O. version of the RAM, before the later,  H.O. 2011 model with the 22,700lb payload available.

DODGE is terrible…chevy all the way.
