Mercedes-Benz recalls 41 2011 E-Class models for a small but significant issue
Mercedes-Benz has announced the recall of 41 units of the 2011 Mercedes-Benz E-Class. The small but important recall is being taken due to an issue where a part could fly out of the engine compartment during servicing, said the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
“Insufficient adhesive between the vibration damper and its inner mass damper ring could cause a sudden separation of the inner mass damper ring from the vibration damper,” the NHTSA said. “While working in the engine compartment during engine operation, the damper ring could strike and injure the person repairing the vehicle or a bystander.”
Mercedes-Benz said no injuries have been reported. Dealers will inspect and replace parts if necessary. The recall is expected to start this month. Concerned owners can contact Mercedes-Benz at (800) 367-6372.
