To celebrate strong first quarter 2011 sales in China, Audi will hold the world debut of the new Audi Q3 crossover at the 2011 Shanghai Motor Show later this month. Audi said that it sold a total of 64,122 cars in China and Hong Kong during the first quarter of 2011, a 24.5 percent increase over the same period a year ago.
“Following our record-breaking results last year, in the first quarter of 2011 we once again achieved continuous growth in China,” said Peter Schwarzenbauer, Member of the Board of Management for Marketing and Sales at AUDI AG. “For 2011 as a whole we are targeting sales of around 280,000 units there.”

Production of the Audi Q3, a competitor to the BMW X1, will take place at Volkswagen AG Seat brand’s Martorell plant, near Barcelona. The production of the Q3 is expected to add 700 new jobs at the plant.
