While many manufacturers are leaving enthusiasts markets behind (cough – Mitsubishi – cough) threatening their market appeal, BMW is still one of the very few keeping us in mind.

A couple of journalists attended a ‘special M event’ at BMW’s HQ in Munich and as a result, a new E90/E92 M3 CSL are confirmed to be on the way. The new ‘CSL’ model will sit in between the standard saloon and GTS models that come out this year and will be revealed in its entirety at the Nurburgring 24 Hours in June.

M-President Kay Segler said this new special M3 model is described as “a special design model focusing on lightweight construction.” He also said that the current 4.0L V8 will be tuned to be in between the standard M3 and GTS models.

Of course, included are revised and more aggressive front and rear fascias with an all new splitter, a retuned suspension with a lowered ride height, a wider track, 19in. multispoke alloys that mimic the E46 CSL’s, a minor boot lip spoiler and quad exhausts.
