BMW i website, Facebook page, Twitter account launched
While we won’t see the first BMW i vehicle until 2013, BMW Group is wasting no time in getting the word out about its new alternative fuel sub-brand. The company has just launched a new website, Facebook page and a Twitter account where interested customers and fans can go to learn more about BMW i’s offerings.
BMW i’s first vehicle will debut in 2013. Known as the BMW i3 (previously know as the Megacity), the compact electric-car will be powered by a 35 kWh lithium-ion battery, which will fuel a 150-hp electric-motor that will turn the rear-wheels. BMW plans on producing 30,000 units of the i3 a year.

Later in 2013, the BMW i3 will also be joined by the BMW i8 (previously known as Vision EfficientDynamics). According to BMW sales and marketing boss Ian Robertson, the “i8 will be a pinnacle car for the BMW brand as a whole, not just the i brand.”
Stay tuned for more from the BMW i brand.
