BMW, Volkswagen evacuate staff from Japan over nuclear reactor concerns

BMW VolkswagenWith all the potential health and safety hazards developing in Japan concerning nuclear reactors, many European nationals stationed in the country are evacuating, BMW and VW staff among them.

Of the 600 sales and technical staff VW had in the country, 40 were German, and 30 of them were repatriated on Wednesday. BMW offered the same opportunity to its German staff in Japan, and about 50 of them returned home.

France and Germany have also begun evacuating their nationals on a larger scale. The US thus far has made no such moves.
