Mercedes-Benz planning a lot of variants for next A-Class, B-Class

According Mercedes-Benz sales and marketing head Joachim Schmidt, Mercedes-Benz may add more variants to its future A-Class and B-Class lineup.
“We’ve got some more ideas, for example a three-door version of the A class, a convertible or a shooting brake,” Schmidt said in an interview with Automotive News Europe. However, Schmidt pointed out that no decision has been made as of yet.
So far, Mercedes-Benz has said that the next-generation A-Class and B-Class compact hatchbacks will be joined by an SUV, a coupe and four-door sedan. All four variants will be built on a new architecture that Mercedes has developed for its growing compact lineup.
The next-generation Mercedes-Benz A-Class and B-Class will arrive in European dealerships in late 2011.
