Chris Bangle to give Samsung a Bangle-butt of their own

Anyone who’s somewhat informed about the automobile industry knows about Chris Bangle, former head-honcho of design at BMW AG. And while we’ve adapted to his controversial designs, and even learned to appreciate some of them, such as the last generation BMW 7-Series, the BMW 5-Series, and the current BMW 3-Series (plus others), a fair amount of us were hoping the Bangle-era days were over when he stepped down from his position several years ago. But far from over they are, as over the years countless of other manufacturers have mimicked a Bangle-era design cue in some way, shape or form. And it doesn’t just stop at cars.

Bangle just announced that he will be working with Samsung on projects involving new mobile phones and computing devices.

South Korea’s JoongAng Daily told some folks at InsideLine of Bangle’s new prospects, but also said that Samsung will not be the only one receiving help.

The magical question as to whether Hyundai Motors was going to be involved with Bangle was also popped, but the publication said that he declined the offer by the South Korean make.

Bangle left his position at BMW in 2009 to create his own consultation firm, Chris Bangle Associates, which is headquartered in Italy. Their slogan: “We are Design and Design Management Consultancy focused on the products and ideas that move you; physically of emotionally! Not just ‘Planes, Cars, Ships & Things that Go.’”

So I guess the electronics industry can expect to have a Bangle-butt of their own. Either way, it will be interesting to see where Bangle’s influence will pop up next.
