It’s been nearly two years since General Motors filed for bankruptcy and shuttered many brands including Hummer, Saturn and Pontiac. Pontiac was arguably the most important brand due to its size. In 2008, Pontiac was the 12th most popular brand in the United States, fitting between Kia and Mazda. So where are previous Pontiac owners now?

According to a recent study by RL Polk & Co., many of the Pontiac fanatics are going to other GM brands. Last year, 57,641 of Pontiac owners went looking for a new ride and nearly 53.3 percent of them bought another GM. Of those buyers, 33.5 percent of them went to Chevrolet, 11.7 percent went to GMC, 10.5 percent went to Ford, 7.7 percent bought a Toyota and 7.5 percent bought a Honda.

Overall, nearly 69 percent of Pontiac owners stuck with brands from MoTown.
