The Mini Rocketman Concept is probably one of the most important concepts by the brand in a while – but will it enter production? BMW’s sales and marketing boss Ian Robertson has given an indication that the Rocketman could be built and said that the model also provides hints at future Mini designs.
“We are good at looking at history and interpreting a future for it,” he told Autocar, pointing out that most Mini concepts do eventually end up in dealerships.
Robertson said that the overall theme of the Rocketman concept will influence other Mini models.
“The themes in the car are not just about a smaller Mini,” he said. “Lightweight construction, and new types of components will go on to Minis. The BMW i-concept [lightweight and alternative energy] will be available to all members of the group.”
