2012 Buick Verano

2012 Buick Verano

When Buick unveiled the 2012 Buick Verano at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show, it said that the model will be available with to engine choices including a 2.4L Ecotec 4-cylinder engine making 177-hp and 170 lb-ft of torque. That will be followed by a 2.0L 4-cylinder Ecotec turbo from the Regal lineup, which produces 220-hp and 258 lb-ft of torque.

According to a brochure for the 2012 Buick Verano, the 2.0L 4-cylinder Ecotec turbo could produce up to 250-hp. That would be an interesting match-up – as long as this isn’t a little typo.

When we sat down with GM’s Vice President of Global Design, Ed Welburn at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show, he told us that the Buick Verano GS is something that GM is toying with. Seeing as the Verano is based on the Cruze, we’re pretty excited to see what Welburn and his team come up with.
