Currently, the most expensive car in Porsche portfolio is the 911 GT2 RS, costing a bank-account draining $245,000. When the limited-edition Porsche 918 Spyder hits the company’s dealerships it will steal that title costing more than $500,000 – and that’s because the 918 will be very limited and very technologically advanced. However, that leaves a big gap between the 911 GT2 RS and the 918 Spyder. So what’s Porsche going to do to fill that gap?

According to new Porsche boss Matthias Mueller, Porsche is currently investigating that and could build a model known as the Porsche 928/929.

“Theoretically, there is indeed still some space there,” Mueller said in an interview with Automotive News Europe “A 911 GT2 RS costs about 220,000 euros. The 918 Spyder will be significantly more than that. Between the two there is still a gap where Italian competitors are currently very active. We are investigating that as an in-house project. We will make a decision by the middle of the year.”
